Vista looks great, but which version?

Published by AtomicMrX under Computer

I will be buying a new 20″ iMac Intel in about three months and along with it I will have to decide which PC OS to have installed. I have the choice of Windows XP or Vista. More than likely it will be Vista Home Premium. Hopefully by then the new Mac OS will also be out and I it will come on the iMac. I’m opting for the Parallels Desktop which will allow me to install any Windows OS onto my Mac. I can switch between Vista and Mac OS without shutting any of them down or rebooting. All systems may remain running and available at any time. All at the touch of a button. You can even copy info between the OS’s. How cool is that!

Here are some quick stats on the iMac I want:

  • 20” widescreen LCD
  • 1680×1050 resolution
  • 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
  • 4MB shared L2 cache
  • 1GB memory (2×512MB SO-DIMM)
  • 250GB Serial ATA hard drive
  • 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD+R DL, DVD±RW, CD-RW)
  • ATI Radeon X1600 graphics with 128MB GDDR3 memory
  • Built-in AirPort Extreme and Bluetooth 2.0
  • Apple Remote

I would have to up the memory to 2GB (I will be uping it to the max 3GB for $200.00) so it could handle the two operating systems at the same time.

Here is something an IT guy at work forwarded to me. Click on the image for a larger view.

Productive Saturday - Finally!

I got up at 8:00 AM, showered and started laundry. Breakfast consisted of a bannana (not much in the house right now for breakfast). Logged into the computer and started in on the usual surfing and daily blog reading while I waited for Shannon to get up and get ready for work.

After dropping Shannon off at work I proceeded to Lee’s Summit to pick up his Sugar Free Black Berry Pie he ordered the night before at Neighbor’s Cafe. Their pies are only $9.00 and completely home made! Thank goodness I wasn’t planning on eating at Neighbor’s Cafe because they were packed and had a huge waiting list.

After picking up the pie I went on further into Lee’s Summit to their big Walmart. Picked up Valentine Cards and looked at Corelle dishes. We are running out of dishes - they are breaking or chipping away. Time for new stuff! I took pictures of two designs that I liked and tried to find a lunch box to replace my broken zippered and torn lining lunch box. No luck on the lunch box… all way too small.

On the way out of Lee’s Summit I stopped at Shanghiboy and picked up some meals for Shannon and me. Lunch and several dinners for me and dinner for Shannon. They give you so much food you can easily stretch it into several meals (except if your Shannon - then it’s one meal). I got Kung Poa Chicken and also Chicken Fried Rice, Shannon got Kung Poa Shrimp with extra peanuts.

Then it was on to the automatic car wash to get all the salt off the car! It had been three days since the windshield had been put in so it was safe to do. They did a great job and I felt so relieved to have a green car again rather than a crusty white car!

Once I got home it was time to eat and then I jumped on the computer to get caught up on several projects. I had six properties to post for Ronson Real Estate Services web site and I had to prepare all the art for Februarys publication on St. Joseph’s AD-Venture web site. After all that it was time to organize the computer desk area. Talk about piles of paper that didn’t want to get filed - apparently. I also went through all the files and got rid of a bunch of old stuff and organized it all up so I hopefully use it instead of “pile it.”

After dinner (Chinese left overs) I did a Flash tutorial and then went into the living room to relax and watch some TV before picking up Shannon from work.

A very productive day!

A rock and a favor

Published by AtomicMrX under Honda

Here’s an update to the “new chip” in my windshield I got on the way to work Thursday. I called AAA and they said they no longer waive the deductible for chips. So I quickly called Santa Fe Glass (the ones that put a new windshield in on Wednesday) and told them the story and they were very kind enough to fix the new chip for free (since they just put the new windshield in the previous day and it wasn’t even 24 hours old).

So after work Thursday I drove to Santa Fe Glass in Lenexa and just had to wait about a half hour for my turn and it only took them about 10 minutes to patch the chip area. It will still be “visible” but it won’t spread into an expensive crack.

I think rocks are attracted to me.

Another rock!

Published by AtomicMrX under Honda

I can not believe my luck! I was driving to work at 5:50 AM this morning and another stupid rock wacked my windshield! I got out and looked at the windshield when I got to work and yep, two nice chips on the same side as the crack was. I am so mad. I just had the darn windshield replaced yesterday! So I have to call AAA again and report a chip (hopefully before it becomes another crack like the previous did).

I just don’t believe it!

$50 buck windshield

Published by AtomicMrX under Honda

I now have a nice clean (crack free) windshield for my Honda Element. Which I just turned over 10,000 miles today. I’m glad I was able to get it repaired with little cost to me ($50.00) and use my Attendance points from work to pay the rest. I’m very tight on money since the drain backed up earlier this month.
